Choosing The Correct Firearms Training
You have a lot of options when it comes to defensive firearms training. Sorting through those options is something you should do carefully, after all, the skills you develop could mean the difference between life and death.
Type Of Training The first thing to figure out when you start wading through your options is exactly what type of course you want to attend. There are many differences in course content even under the heading of "Defensive Firearms Training" Firearms Skill The most fundamental training courses focus exclusively on developing your skills with a firearm. These courses will include training in firearms handling skills as well as shooting. It's these types of courses that you will learn to load, reload, deal with malfunctions of your firearm. The more advanced skill development courses will also teach you to perform these skills under a defensive condition. Tactics After skill development courses, the next most common type of training course is a course that teaches you how to act and what to do during a defensive condition. Topics include threat recognition, use of cover, and home defense. Tactics courses can be great for understanding the context in which your firearms skills might have to be used if you are ever threatened with lethal force. Tactics courses can be very helpful in preparation for an actual fight. |
